The concept of using shoes as characters in the story was the product of fusing two concepts together. The inspiration for the main character was Vincent’s son, Joshua Michael or Mikey, who was a middle-schooler at the time. The story is mostly fictitious and takes place in a world where all of the characters are shoes. Mikey embarks in a journey of self-discovery while facing fears that can seem terrifying for any teenager.
